I remember Mummy telling us that while attending the Bible meetings given by the missionaries, an outstanding observation she made was how diligently the Bible was used. Each topic, each doctrine presented held it’s foundation in God’s Holy Word; for her the evidence was overwhelming. As she continued her personal Bible study at home her convictions grew; not only that, she began “sneaking” to the local church of her “not yet affirmed” faith to ask lots and lots of questions. After receiving the responses she would study some more, and still attend her current church. Each week she would wait for an opportunity to share with her current priest all she was learning at the meetings; she felt confused and began to question why she had never heard such Biblical teachings during the many years she had attended church.
With the same persistence that Mummy manifests today, she searched for answers to her most pertinent questions at her current church. Sadly, the answers given were without evidence from Scripture. A “seeker” for Bible truth is what Mummy became! She began to realize the importance of personal Bible study and continued to do so with diligence and consistency!
- Jeremiah 29:13 “And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart” (KJV)
- Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (KJV).
- Mark 7:7 “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (KJV).
